Dani Pedrosa took advantage of rapidly improving track conditions to top the final session of free practice for the MotoGP class at Valencia. Like most of the riders, Pedrosa spent a large part of the session sitting in the garage waiting for the track to dry, after a few exploratory laps to check conditions. As the sun started to burn off the damp patches, the entire field came out to test the surface.
Lap times dropped as the session went on, and in the end, it was Dani Pedrosa who ended the day as fastest. The Repsol Honda man had a clear advantage, ending over six tenths ahead of the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha pairing, Andrea Dovizioso taking his turn to lead Cal Crutchlow. LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl grabbed 4th, finishing ahead of Nicky Hayden on the Ducati. Jorge Lorenzo was once again slow off the mark, managing only the 6th fastest time over a second and a quarter slower than Pedrosa. Alvaro Bautista set the 7th fastest time, finishing ahead of Randy De Puniet, the Frenchman having a good weekend in difficult conditions. Casey Stoner, still cautious of his injured ankle, ended the session in 9th, ahead of Michele Pirro on the Gresini FTR Honda.
