Suzuki DR-Z125
Posted on 01.6.2012 14:00 by Sulthoni , Kirby |
The 2012 Suzuki DR-Z125 is a motocross bike that upstart riders can get into without having to worry about the complicated mechanisms of some of the more powerful models in the market.
It’s not enough to have a bike that offers good looks, especially for novices looking to learn the ropes; you need one that has matching performance and handling credentials, two characteristics that Suzuki pays full attention to.
Aggressive bodywork, complete with a two-tone seat cover, a rear fender, graphics, and number plates, makes the DR-Z125 a complete, stylistic replica of the championship-winning RM-Z machines.
The DR-Z125 offers a compact 124cc 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that has been designed for ease-of operation and low maintenance, perfect for upstart riders looking to break into the world of motocross. The engine also has a digital-type CDI ignition system with timing set to enhance the engine’s low-rpm power characteristics while a five-speed transmission with a link-type gearshift system offers precise operation and positive feel for complete control of the bike.
In addition to its sublime powertrain, the DR-Z125 also comes with precise and agile handling characteristics, featuring a long-travel, oil damped front fork and a link-type rear suspension that provides a smooth, compliant ride. A lightweight and durable steel frame and swingarm, as well as equally lightweight aluminum rims reduce the bike’s weight while providing agile handling and improved suspension performance.
Find out more about the Suzuki DR-Z125 after the jump.

MotoGP Silly Season 2013 Starts Early - Yamaha Keen To Hang On To Lorenzo
With all the debate and discussion over the changes coming to MotoGP for 2012 - 1000cc machines, the appearance of the Claiming Rule Team machines, arguments over exactly what the Aprilia bike is, and the ongoing talks over the imposition of a rev limit and spec ECU for 2013, it is easy to overlook the fact that it is not just the bikes which are changing. All four of MotoGP's so-called Aliens are out of contract at the end of next season, as well as just about every other rider on the MotoGP grid. With the last five years utterly dominated by the Fantastic Four - Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner winning all but four races in 5 season - the key for any factory to securing a MotoGP title has been having at least one Alien on its books.
Behold Kyle Busch looking very awkward on a red carpet
Earlier this week, Kyle Busch took a turn presenting at the 2011 American Country Awards. Beforehand, he and wife Samantha worked the red carpet, and as you can see from this highly awkward video above, some folks just weren't meant to stand still and smile.
(Anybody got video of his actual award presentation? Hit us up and let us know.)
Mercedes SLS AMG by Prior Design
Posted on 01.4.2012 16:00 by Kirby |
To say that Prior Design has been pretty busy with aerodynamic programs for the past couple of months is the first understatement anyone has said since the calendar turned to 2012.
The German tuning firm has released plenty of new widebody kits, including one for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class less than a month ago and another for the BMW 5-Series only six days ago. Now it appears that they’re far from finished, especially after they released the first teaser photo of their next project involving Mercedes’ resident supercar, the SLS AMG.
The entire kit is still not complete, but judging from the teaser photo, Prior Design is taking a different approach on the SLS AMG with a kit that’s far more aggressive and flashy than any of their previous works.
Our trained eyes are seeing a vented hood, a revised front bumper with a few air intakes, and a spoiler lip that appears to have been made in carbon fiber. In addition, we’re also looking at new side vents, new side skirts, and flared wheel arches. Though there are no shots of the rear end of the SLS AMG, we expect Prior Design to have an extensive kit on that side too, possibly a rear wing, a boot lid, and maybe even a new diffuser with new exhaust tailpipes.
Performance figures are probably out of the question basing on recent history, but that’s not to say that the SLS AMG is a slouch on the road that needs extra juice. The German supercar still packs a 6.3-liter V8 engine that develops 563 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque. If we could get that bodykit with those performance numbers, we’d gladly take it too.

IndyCar will not return to site of Dan Wheldon?s death in 2012
When Dan Wheldon died in October at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the hue and cry from many quarters focused on the track itself: too banked, too wide, too much room for open-wheeled cars to get into trouble. No less than Jimmie Johnson himself said that he didn't believe IndyCars belonged on certain ovals.
Now, it appears IndyCar is heeding those cries. The series has announced that it will buy out the 2012 race and review contract options for 2013. IndyCar is in the midst of an investigation into Wheldon's death, and a return to Vegas is, in part, contingent on those findings. So many questions still remain, with few answers in sight. (Of note: the series has already committed to returning to Texas, a similar track, for 2012.)
The 15-car wreck that claimed Wheldon's life 12 laps into the race could have been caused by the high banks of the track, and accordingly, the series has held off on releasing its 2012 schedule. However, other reasons for the catastrophic wreck could have been an overcrowded field or the high number of relatively inexperienced drivers.
Bruton Smith, owner of Speedway Motorsports Inc. and the Las Vegas track, has long demanded that IndyCar honor its three-year commitment to the track. However, he agreed to a buyout of 2012, with 2013 yet to be determined.
