Kyle Busch calls Ryan Newman ?the biggest stupid idiot out here? after New Hampshire race

Kyle Busch had some choice words for Ryan Newman after Sunday's Camping World RV Sales 301, calling Newman "the biggest stupid idiot out here" and "a big ogre."

From the SiriusXM post-race show:

?Ryan Newman is the biggest stupid idiot out here," Busch said. "He?s a big ogre and can do whatever he wants because he can probably kick anybody?s butt. So no sense getting in a fight with him. Glad he?s out of a job."

The topic of Newman came up when Busch started talking about older brother Kurt, who qualified second and ran up front until he crashed with Newman on lap 226. However, the wreck started when Kurt Busch passed Matt Kenseth low on the entry to turn one and slid up in front of Kenseth on the inside of Newman. With Kenseth right on Kurt Busch's bumper, the back end of Kurt Busch's car slid around and Newman got wrecked in the process.

After the crash, Newman said he was disappointed in what he thought was extremely aggressive racing immediately after restarts at the one-mile oval and mentioned contact from Kyle Busch when talking about his incident with Kurt Busch.

From MRN Radio:

?We just got whacked by a bunch of guys,?? Newman said. ?(Kyle Busch) hit me first. (Brad Keselowski) hit me next and then I guess it was Kurt that went underneath ... clipped us and knocked us into the fence and took himself out. I guess (Matt Kenseth) had a little influence on it. We kind of were in a bad spot having a little bit older tires.??

On Friday, it was officially announced that Kevin Harvick would be driving the No. 4 for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014 and that Newman would be leaving the team. With no ride lined up as of yet for next season, Newman and Kurt Busch are the top two drivers with expiring contracts at the end of the season.

But why would Kyle Busch have such pointed comments about Newman? While Newman and Kyle Busch haven't had any public feuds, Newman and Kurt Busch aren't on the best of terms. At Darlington last May, Kurt Busch peeled through Newman's pit box, inciting his crew, and hit Newman's car on pit road after the race. Those events led to a mini melee of sorts, with Busch screaming at Newman's crew and Newman saying after the race that Busch's "chemical imbalance speaks for itself."

Brad Keselowski edges out Jimmie Johnson for New Hampshire pole [UPDATE: Johnson DQ'd]

There aren't many people who can hold off Jimmie Johnson, especially not this year. Brad Keselowski, one of the few who's gone toe-to-toe against Johnson and walked away on top, did so again on Friday at qualifying for Sunday's Camping World RV Sales 301 in Loudon, New Hampshire.

The 48 team had trouble clearing their car out of tech because of minor issues with weight and a side skirt. NASCAR put the car on a five-minute time clock, but Johnson made it in time. He then went out and won the provisional pole, but the booing fans in attendance didn't even have time to get up to full roar before Keselowski snatched the pole away from him. [UPDATE: Johnson's qualifying effort was disqualified because he failed post-qualifying inspection. He will now start 43rd. More information as it becomes available.]

This is just Keselowski's third pole; his first came in September 2010 at this same track. It's a much-needed boost for the defending champ, who's currently sitting in 13th and several points out of the Chase wild-card hunt.

Rounding out the top 5 are Kurt Busch, once again turning in a strong early-weekend effort; Dale Earnhardt Jr., who briefly held the pole with a track record; and Kyle Busch. The rest of the top 10, in order: Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, and Jeff Burton checking in from the early 2000s.

Other notables: Tony Stewart (17), Clint Bowyer (21), Danica Patrick (33). Morgan Shepherd, who will be the oldest driver to start his engines in a Sprint Cup race, finished last among drivers who completed qualifying laps. His best time of 128.290 mph was nearly eight miles per hour slower than Keselowski's time, which doesn't bode well for Shepherd's chances for the race on Sunday.

Some youngsters for Silverstone test

The Young Driver Test takes place later this week at Silverstone and several teams have now named their drivers. Track Position Could Be Key At Daytona

While you are taking a breather from the non-stop Danica coverage, consider this: this year’s Sprint Unlimited had 17 less lead changes than last year’s Bud Shootout. Granted the 2012 Shootout was seven laps longer, but it also wasn’t broken up into segments which kept the field together. Combine the number of lead changes with [...]

Kyle Busch leads Toyota 1-2-3 in Daytona qualifying

Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth will start on the front row for Saturday night's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona.

Busch ran a lap of 193.723 MPH to beat Kenseth's 193.299, and Clint Bowyer, another Toyota driver, will start third. The top eight drivers in the field broke the 193 MPH mark.

At Daytona in February, Busch and Kenseth were at the front of the field when they suffered engine issues within laps of each other. Kenseth was leading when his engine went sour on lap 148 and that malady handed the lead over to Busch, who promptly had engine woes just two laps later.

And the driver that qualified fourth? That's none other than Kasey Kahne, who can't seem to get much distance between himself and Busch at restrictor plate tracks. Kahne went spinning off of Busch's bumper in the Daytona 500 and then crashed again at Talladega after contact from Busch. (Busch was collected in that accident.) The two drivers also finished 1-2 in the second Budweiser Duel qualifying race for the Daytona 500.

The Toyotas of Martin Truex Jr. and Michael Waltrip start fifth and seventh. Danica Patrick, the polesitter for the 500, will start 11th.

It's Busch's 13th career Sprint Cup Series pole and his first at a restrictor plate track. 43 cars are entered for the race so no driver failed to qualify.
